Best Of: Fake Tans on the High-Street

I want to discuss with you all a few of the different fake tan brands available on the market which I have tried and tested (as a fake tan lover!)  and tell you about my newest fake tan discovery! There are lots out there, but I've narrowed it down for one for now! If you are a fan of fake tan like myself then I'm sure you can admit that there have been times where you've applied too much (and it goes more orange than tanned!) and some tans don't apply to the skin very well, and leave a scaly look to your skin. It's important to learn that less is more with fake tan and to do your research on the best ways to apply tan... however, if you've stumbled across my post today look no further as I'll cover all aspects.

Here is my Fake Tan low down...

The first ever fake tan I tried was one from my Mum's collection, which was the Dove Summer Glow gradual tan. This was perfect to test the waters with fake tan - as it is more gradual than a spray or a mousse - as its a moisturizer mixed with a self-tanner. I liked to apply this roughly two times a week after a bath - as it would moisturise my skin whilst adding a little bit of colour. The only problem with this was, it would take quite a few applications to go darker. Maybe I just expected to be a bronzed goddess in seconds! I found this product easy to apply as you simply just moisturised the product into your skin. I recently did some more research on this product and heard that it works wonders to apply this a few days after you've applied your tan to keep the colour radiant and long lasting. I haven't tried this yet, as I don't have this in my collection - but I'll keep you posted!

I did stick to gradual tan for a while after using the Dove one, I then purchased the Garnier Summer Body gradual tan. This tan is pretty much the same concept, it gradually builds a tan whilst looking natural and promises to moisturise the skin for 12 hours! I did stick to this tan, and went back and fourth between both of the gradual tanners for quite a while before trying the real deal.. and by this I mean more of an instant tanner.

I also tested another gradual tan (yes, I did go through a BIG phase of gradual tanning) which was the Palmer's Coca Butter which is a natural bronzing tanning lotion, again a combination of moisturising and tanning - my favourite thing about this tan was the scent! (and it did the job) Out of all three gradual tanners I used I'd have to say the Dove one get's my vote! What are your favourite gradual tanners - or did you go straight to instant tans?

After a while of trialling the gradual tanners, for my Prom evening I had my first ever spray tan - which I believe used the brand Fake Bake! I actually really like having spray tans for events etc, however for an everyday glow I'd rather go with an instant tan. I decided to purchase the Fake Bake tan after my spray tan, it's the 60 minute tan which I fell in love with, there were guidelines based on the intensity you wanted your tan to be would mean how long you leave the product on your skin for. Now - I must admit this tan is quite pricey, It's always varied between £25-£27 (depending on what shop you go to!) and I did love it, the product comes with the tan, gloves and an application mit. I felt as if the product was good, but the mit isn't the best as I found the product would stick to the mit - so have a spare/new to hand! Overall, I did really like this tan and how it developed into the skin but due to the price I thought why not see what else is on the market... and with thanks to my viewers and Facebook friends I discovered a new tan which I love.
Next up, is the St Moriz instant tanning mousse which I have well and truly fell in love with this product, I also purchased a tanning mit from Soltan which applied this product effortlessly and evenly. The mousse is creamy and spreads evenly - I applied this product with circular motions and it has given a lovely glow and tanned colour to my skin I have included photo's below which show the results of one application with this tan. Overall out of all the tans I have tried so far (including have two sunbeds) I will be sticking to St Moriz tan.
